Your future team
The mechanical department in R&D is responsible for designing and developing the mechanics for our analytical instruments and we have many exciting new projects in the pipeline that require world-class hardware solutions. We are looking for a senior mechanical engineer to our newly created mechanical department consisting of 20 skilled engineers and technical assistants. There is focus on new instrument development as well as professional development with focus on mechanical competencies. You will help drive concept, design, construction, mechanical engineering, and take ownership of specific mechanical competencies. You will use this ownership, knowledge, and opportunity for personal development to make FOSS and the mechanical team stronger which is key to making our solutions even better.
The job
The job holds two main tasks. One is being part of building world class instruments for the food and agriculture industry in project teams. We normal work 2-3 mechanical engineers on an interdisciplinary project in collaboration with electronics, software, chemist, data scientists and other disciplines to succeed. The products we build both go into laboratories as well as large plants helping the food and agriculture industry maximize the yield of the earths raw materials.
The second task is taking on responsibility as gatekeeper for one or more specific mechanical disciplines like materials, tolerance chains, kinematic etc. This means room for both personal developments, as well as guiding and reviewing work from other mechanical engineers to secure we jointly bring the most optimal solutions to the market.
To help with the ECM workflow a small group of 5 technical assistants is working together with the mechanical engineers on ECM’s, drawings, SAP entries etc. Further we have fantastic tool shop facilities, CNC, laser cutter, 3D printers etc. so there are no long waits after designing and calculating your specific parts.
Your daily work will be at the FOSS innovation center in Hillerød Denmark, with few traveling days per year primarily to Hungary, or to customer installations as part of our development.
Qualifications

- Strong competencies in mechanical engineering, including:

- Cardboard concepts
- Designing in CAD
- Material selection and understanding
- Knowledge of simplifying mechanical solutions
- Strong knowledge in polymer materials is a plus
- Experience in working with sheet metals
- Interest in generative designs and additive manufacturing
Secondary Qualifications
- AutoDesk Inventor & Fusion 360
- CREO
- Experience working with SAP and Classifications
Personal skills
Our instruments are complex, hence you need to be willing to share your work with other engineers and enjoy discussing the solutions so we reduce risk and complexity as much as possible.
You must be an open person, as we believe the best solutions come from teamwork. People respect you, and like to work with you, because of your strong professional competencies within mechanical engineering. You possess good communication skills and can communicate complex concepts in a concise manner. You master the art of simplicity, and you promote continuous improvement to the way of working.
